Peanut Testing Solutions

Peanuts are nutrient-rich legumes that offer an excellent source of protein, fiber, healthy fats, and essential vitamins and minerals. Peanuts are classified as a major groundnut and can cause potentially fatal food allergies. Despite having a thin outer shell, the inner seed is smooth and oily, making it a common ingredient in various food products. Due to the severity of peanut allergies, it is crucial to inspect both the production environment and food products for traces of peanuts, as cross-contamination can occur during manufacturing. The food industry must use highly sensitive testing equipment to ensure compliance with strict food safety standards and prevent accidental exposure to peanut allergens.

Mandatory labeling of peanut in food products
Groundnuts, including peanuts, are among the most common causes of food allergies, affecting both children and adults. In the United States and Europe, the prevalence of groundnut allergies is estimated to range from 1.5% to 3%. Therefore, mandatory labeling of groundnuts in food products is required by law in many countries, including the EU (Regulation (EU) No 1169/201) and the US (U.S. FDA – FALCPA 2004).
